Typical Operating Envelopes
| Application | Evap Temp (°C) | Cond Temp (°C) | Max Pressure Ratio | Max Discharge (°C) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AC - Scroll (R-410A) | -10 to +15 | +30 to +65 | ≤ 4.5 | ≤ 115 |
| AC - Rotary (R-32) | -15 to +15 | +30 to +65 | ≤ 4.0 | ≤ 120 |
| Low Temp - Scroll (R-404A) | -45 to -10 | +25 to +55 | ≤ 12 | ≤ 135 |
| Medium Temp (R-134a) | -20 to +10 | +30 to +60 | ≤ 8 | ≤ 120 |
| Heat Pump (R-410A) | -25 to +20 | +25 to +70 | ≤ 5.5 | ≤ 120 |
High Discharge Temperature Causes
- • High compression ratio (low suction / high discharge)
- • Insufficient superheat (liquid floodback)
- • Condenser fouling or undersized
- • Non-condensables in system
- • Compressor valve leakage
Protecting the Compressor
- • Maintain proper superheat (5-15K typical)
- • Ensure adequate condenser airflow
- • Check discharge temp switch setting
- • Monitor oil level and return
- • Verify refrigerant charge
