Bin Method Reference

Calculation Method

  • Based on ASHRAE bin method for annual energy estimation
  • Temperature bins: 3°C (5°F) intervals
  • Part-load efficiency curves based on equipment type
  • Weather data from typical meteorological year (TMY)

Key Assumptions

  • Linear relationship between outdoor temp and load
  • Base load accounts for internal gains
  • Part-load COP varies with load ratio
  • No economizer or free cooling included

Note: This simplified bin method provides estimated annual energy consumption. For detailed energy modeling, use specialized software like EnergyPlus, eQUEST, or TRACE 700.
